Bring your brain and body
back in harmony
Sometimes life feels like a radio that's not on the right frequency. There is noise, restlessness, difficulty focusing or just that feeling that you are just off. The ILS Focus System is designed to restore that connection - from the deepest layers of your nervous system.
More than listening. A workout for your entire nervous system.
ILS is a multisensory program that combines music, bone conduction and light movement to help your brain process information more efficiently.
Imagine your brain is an orchestra. When the instruments are not in tune, noise and chaos ensue - even if each instrument is perfect on its own. ILS acts as the conductor who brings all the systems back into a unified rhythm: calm, powerful and precise.
ILS is more than listening to music. It is a scientific method which uses specially crafted classical music, combined with bone conduction and focused physical exercises. The nervous system is addressed at its most fundamental level - not through thoughts or words, but through vibration, rhythm and movement.
We use ILS ourselves, as therapists. We see the results in our own practice and feel them in our own functioning. That first-hand knowledge is the basis of the guidance we offer. Not from a textbook, but from experiential resonance.
Auditory stimulation
Specially filtered classical music activates specific brain regions. Each program uses a different frequency range, tailored to your objective.
Bone conduction
A small transducer in the headphones sends gentle vibrations directly through the bone to the inner ear. This appeals to the balance organ and autonomic nervous system - beyond the conscious mind.
Motion
Simple but focused exercises strengthen integration between senses and motor skills. Music and movement together create a much stronger neuroplastic stimulus than each element individually.
“Peace of mind begins with harmony in your body.”
Neuroplasticity: your brain has the ability to repair itself
Our brains are not a fixed entity. It constantly reshapes itself in response to the stimuli we give it.
Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to form new connections and strengthen existing ones through targeted stimulation. Just as muscles grow through consistent exercise, the brain forms new pathways through repeated, challenging stimuli. ILS turns that principle into a système method.
What makes ILS special is the bottom-up approach: instead of working from the thinking mind, start at the bottom - the body, the balance organ, the brain stem. When this foundation is stable, the higher cognitive functions have room to flourish.
Calms the nervous system
The low frequencies in the music and the bone conduction vibrations activate the parasympathetic nervous system - the rest and recovery system. The body relaxes, stress hormones drop, and a state of safe alertness emerges.
The brain is activated
Middle frequencies activate the speech and language centers. High frequencies directly stimulate the cortex: attention, working memory, processing speed and creativity come online.
Movement anchors change
By moving simultaneously, motor cortex, cerebellum and frontal lobe are activated simultaneously. Thus, new neural pathways are not only established but also firmly anchored.
Long-term results
The changes are not temporary. With regularity - two to five sessions a week - the new connections become stronger and more automated. Tasks that used to take energy become more and more automatic.

ILS speaks the universal language of the nervous system
That means: it is valuable for every age. From the young child laying his foundation, to the senior who wants to stay vital.
👶 For children
When school learning is difficult, dealing with stimuli is difficult or motor skills are lagging - ILS helps strengthen the fundamentals: balance, auditory processing, attention and regulation.
Parents guide this process at home, which often becomes a beautiful moment of shared peace and connection. You are not alone.
👥 For adults
In a world that demands a lot, ILS helps to recharge the inner battery. No more living on autopilot, but being present with full attention - in your work, your relationships, your own head.
Whether it's burnout, concentration problems, brain fog or simply the desire to become sharper and calmer, ILS provides a solid foundation.
👴 For seniors
The brain is like a muscle that can stay trained, at any age. ILS helps maintain mental fitness, support coordination and monitor the sharpness of the senses.
Scientific research shows that targeted auditory training can be shown to slow the harmful effects of aging on cognitive speed and memory.
We see the results every day in our practice. A boy with stiff motor skills and social awkwardness who is literally more flexible in life after ILS. Adults in whom symptoms diminish and skills increase. We use ILS ourselves, as therapists, to stay cognitively sharp and deepen our own abilities. This is the knowledge we bring with us - not from a textbook, but from real experience.
When the system requires additional support
We don't like to put people in boxes. Yet many recognize themselves in certain patterns - and for each pattern, ILS has something to offer.
Labels such as ADHD, autism (ASD), OCD or trauma-related symptoms are first and foremost for us signals that the nervous system is having trouble synchronizing. No deficiencies, but indications that the foundation needs extra attention.
Especially in experiences of deep insecurity - such as trauma - ILS helps in a gentle, nonverbal way to land ‘in your body’ again. It restores the connection to your own core, in a place where words sometimes fall short.

A journey, not a sprint
Sustainable change requires rhythm and patience - and in return gives something that will last a lifetime.
A full ILS course consists of 30- to 60-hour programs spread over several months. That may sound like a big step - but think of it as building a sturdy house. Each session is a brick. Each brick makes the house stronger. And the beauty is: most people experience subtle but noticeable changes in their peace of mind and functioning early in the program.
You don't have to do it alone. We guide you remotely, adapt the schedule to your life and are there if you have questions. At home, at your own pace, through an easy-to-use app and instructions.

What people experience
Even people who know nothing about the program see the changes in those who follow ILS.
“My child was socially awkward, motorically rigid and often absent in the moment. After ILS, we saw those characteristics slowly disappear. Not dramatically suddenly, but like a landslide that you only see looking back.”
- Parent, through our practice“I first noticed it in little things: less irritable, sleeping better, being able to shift gears faster. After two months, colleagues said I was ‘different.’ Quieter. More present.”
- Adult in burnout recovery“I use ILS myself as a therapist. My responsiveness, my ability to be present during sessions - it has measurably improved. That's the reason I wholeheartedly recommend it.”
- Therapist at BrainArtsILS is based on decades of neuroplasticity research. Studies via fMRI and Diffusion Tensor Imaging show measurable changes in brain architecture after targeted auditory training - even in adults. The approach was developed by pioneers such as Dr. Alfred Tomatis and refined by medical specialists such as Dr. Ron Minson.

Questions that often come up
The most frequently asked questions about the ILS Focus System.
ILS speaks the universal language of the nervous system. It is valuable for children struggling with learning, stimuli or motor skills; for adults struggling with stress, burnout, concentration or emotion regulation; and for seniors who want to stay mentally vital. There is no minimum or maximum age.
Neuroplasticity requires repetition. Just as you don't build muscle with one workout, rewiring the nervous system requires consistent stimulation over an extended period of time. The duration ensures that changes are not temporary, but really become part of your new way of functioning. Most people notice subtle improvements early on.
Yes, absolutely. Because ILS works on the foundations of your nervous system, it often provides fertile ground for other forms of guidance - coaching, therapy, physical therapy. When the body has rest, the mind can grow. ILS prepares the ground.
You wear the special headphones, open the Unyte app on your smartphone and start the selected music. During the session (30 or 60 minutes), you perform light movement exercises - such as balancing, throwing and catching, or cross movements - and then move on to quieter activities such as drawing, lego or a quiet walk. No screens, no intense cognitive tasks during the session.
This varies by person and situation. Some notice subtle changes in sleep or rest after only a few sessions. More significant improvements usually become apparent halfway through the program. Larger shifts - such as improved reading or emotion regulation - are noticeable after completion. Consistency is key: three to five hours a week produces significantly faster results.

The neurobiological action of ILS
For those who want to land deeper: a comprehensive analysis of the science behind the system.
Structural changes in the brain
Advanced imaging studies - including functional MRI (fMRI) and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) - have conclusively demonstrated that targeted auditory training leads to measurable, robust changes in the physical architecture of the adult brain.10 After training periods of several weeks, statistically significant increased activation was observed in areas responsible for working memory, strategic planning, decision-making and complex motor control.
Longitudinal research shows that intensive auditory-cognitive stimulation strengthens neural connectivity in vital structures such as the corpus callosum - the bridge between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Stronger integrity here correlates directly with faster cognitive processing, better executive function and increased mental toughness.8
The dual route: air and bone conduction
The ILS Focus System headphones deliver music through two simultaneous channels. Air Guide Activates the traditional auditory pathway through the eardrum and ossicles to the auditory cortex. Bone conduction sends vibrations directly through the bone tissue of the skull to the inner ear - directly engaging the vestibular system (the balance organ).
This vestibular system is anatomically connected to the autonomic nervous system and shares fibers with the vagus nerve - the tenth cranial nerve that controls parasympathetic regulation. Bone conduction therefore acts as a powerful, physical anchor: it signals to the nervous system at the brainstem level that it is safe.23
Frequency-specific neuromodulation
Each program uses music that has been acoustically modified to emphasize specific frequency bands:
| Frequency band | Operation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Low (0-750 Hz) | Resonation in vestibular system and brainstem | Body awareness, grounding, postural control, tranquility |
| Middle (750-3000 Hz) | Activation of speech and language centers (Broca, Wernicke) | Auditory processing, concentration, speech recognition |
| High (above 3000 Hz) | Direct stimulation of the cerebral cortex | Alertness, memory, processing speed, creativity |
The ILS Focus programs
The Focus System consists of six structured programs, each with its own neuro-physiological goal. The therapist tailors the program to your individual situation, goals and degree of dysregulation.
Calming Program
10 a.m. - Introductory/RegulatoryThe shortest and gentlest program. The primary goal is not cognitive training, but regulating the autonomic state: activating the parasympathetic system, improving heart rate variability and creating a fundamental sense of physical security. A soft landing for those who need it.
Sensory & Motor Program
60 hours - Fundamentals / Vestibular constructionThe most comprehensive program. Lays the neurological foundation for all higher functions. Essential for those struggling with sensory dysregulation, developmental delays or residual symptoms of neurological overload. When the nervous system is disorganized, the brain consumes a disproportionate amount of energy for basic tasks - this program frees that space.
Concentration & Attention Program
40 hours - Attention & Executive functions.Trains the brain specifically in suppressing distracting stimuli and maintaining sustained, focused attention. Especially valuable for professionals in busy office environments and for adults who find their productivity diminished by constant interruptions. Promotes a state of awake relaxation - ideal for deep, focused work.
Reading & Auditory Processing Program
40 hours - Language, reading & auditory processingTargets the temporal lobes and language processing centers. Improves phonemic awareness, auditory working memory and ability to decode speech in noisy environments. In practice: reduced miscommunication, increased confidence in meetings and smoother social interactions.
Optimal Performance I & II
24 hours each - Advanced / Cognitive OptimizationThe most advanced programs, designed exclusively for people in whom the vestibular system is already well organized. Use extremely fast-changing frequencies (up to 4000 Hz) that directly and powerfully stimulate the cerebral cortex. Research suggests that this high-frequency stimulation promotes the release of dopamine - the neurotransmitter underlying divergent thinking, creativity and intrinsic motivation.33
For adults: cognitive dual-tasking exercises
Traditional ILS exercises are designed for children. Therefore, we have developed customized exercises for adults and seniors to supplement and sometimes replace traditional exercises. For example, for adults - such as highly trained professionals - we work with more advanced forms of cognitive dual-tasking: the simultaneous performance of a physically challenging motor task and a mentally demanding task.
This forces an unprecedented synergy between motor cortex, cerebellum and prefrontal cortex. Scientific research shows that this combination not only increases cognitive acuity, but is also proven effective in counteracting Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and fall prevention in the elderly.30
VOR & Gaze Stabilization
While the eyes remain fixed on a stationary point, the head slowly rotates from left to right. Trains cooperation between visual and vestibular system. Reduces dizziness and disorientation in crowded environments. Upgrade: performed on one leg or in tandem position.
Saccades with semantic association
Eyes jump from left to right at lightning speed. With each jump, immediately name a word from a category (cities, animals, colors). Forces the brain to switch between spatial vision and language production. Increases reading speed and overview in complex visual data sets.
Proprioceptive rhythmics + Serial 7’s
Throw and catch a ball while counting out loud from 100 in increments of 7 (100, 93, 86...). Combines hand-eye coordination with numerical processing. Improves deep focus ability and concentration under pressure.
Cross hemispheric coordination
Marching with cross hand-knee joints while reciting the alphabet backwards. Integrates left and right hemispheres through the corpus callosum. Enhances emotion regulation, executive control and improves ability to ‘respond rather than react’ in stressful situations.
Synergy with the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
For clients with a heavy burden of chronic trauma, deep anxiety or depression, the Focus System is being combined with the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), developed by Dr. Stephen Porges - the founder of Polyvagal Theory.
Where ILS trains and builds up the brain, SSP specifically pulls the body out of chronic defense mode. It trains the muscles in the middle ear to block low, threatening frequencies and open to the frequencies of safe, human connection. It opens the neural doors, so to speak - after which ILS can furnish the space that has been created.
Clinical evidence demonstrates massively that when SSP and ILS are combined, long-term outcomes improve and anchor exponentially.46
- SSP (for trauma, deep anxiety or strong defense) → Calming Program → Sensory & Motor
- Calming Program → Sensory & Motor → Concentration & Attention
- Concentration & Attention → Reading & Auditory Processing → Optimal Performance I & II

What you may encounter - and how we deal with it
Neuroplasticity takes energy. Rewiring the nervous system is similar to an intense physical workout after a long period of inactivity. That means you may sometimes experience something called ‘neurological muscle pain.
Fatigue after sessions
A heavy or pressing feeling in the head after the first sessions is normal - it is a sign that the nervous system is working intensively. The approach: decrease bone conduction, cut session duration in half. Less is more. Adequate sleep, hydration and rest periods help the brain consolidate changes faster.
Hypersensitivity to headphones
For severe sensory hypersensitivity or hyperacusis, the headphones may feel overwhelming at first. The approach: initially rest the headphones on the shoulder or knee - bone conduction already works through the skeleton. Step by step closer to the ears, at the pace of the nervous system.
